Be it known that we, JOHN H. MERTZ and RENJAMIN F. The leading feature of our design consists of a badge having the shape and ornamentation shown in the accompanying drawing. The adge, made from anysuitable material, is circular in shape and bears thereon the following configuration or picture, which is also circular in shape to conform to that of the badge. In the immediate foreground is represented a field of grain in shocks and in the middle foreground a team and wagon loaded with sheaves, beyond which are shown a farm-house and other buildings, with a background of trees and foliage. Upon the right 22,632. Term of patent 3i years.
in the foreground appears a body of water hav ing mills, factories, and smoking chimneys upon its banks. In the sky of the background is represented a sunburst, with light-shafts radiating therefrom, while a portrait of President McKinley is shown upon the face of the sun. Protruding from beneath the picture, as shown at a a, are groups of stars upon a contrasting field, and upon the sides, as shown at b b, are contrasting stripes.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
