WI TNE SSE S AL. A 710mm;
ALEXANDER A. LA VIGN 1, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO HENRY F. MILLER, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A WATER-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 32,787, dated June 5, 1900.
Application filed April 19, 1900. $erisl Nu. 13,59. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ALEXANDER A. LA VIGNE, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Cleveland, in the county of Ouyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented and produced anew and original Design for ater-Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forminga part thereof.
This design relates to receptacles for holding liquids, especially of the character used in therapeutics for holding water in proximity to the human body in order to raise or lower the temperature of certain portions thereof.
The leading feature of my design consists of an elliptical-shaped shallow vessel having curved surfaces and rounded sides conforming to and resembling the curvature of pertions of the surface of the human body.
Referring to the drawings, Figure I is a view showing my design in perspective. Fig. II is a view showing my design in side elevation.
Referring to the drawings, 1: represents the uppersurface of in y water-holder. This surface is convex in its general effect. This surface near the central portion a is substantially fiat and then curves down to the sides and ends. The curvature of the portions of the surface near the ends, as at a a, is much greater than the curvature of the portions of the surface near the sides, as at a a".
b represents the lower surface of the vessel. This surface is similar in general outline and on rvature to an elliptical-shaped section taken from the surface of a cylinderthat is, the surface is flat in the direction of its shorter axis and concave in the direction of its longer axis.
Near the center of the surface the portion 0 b is substantially flat for a distance in both directions.
The receptacle is deepest at its central portion and is quite shallow toward the edges, where the upper and lower surfaces meet at 5 an acute angle.
The edges of the receptacle, where the upper and lower surfaces meet, are curved and rounded, so that the receptacle is elliptical shape in plan.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a waterholder, as herein shown and described.
Signed by me at Cleveland, Ohio, this 12th day of April, 1900.
ALEXANDER A. LA VIGNE.
