DESIGN FOR A CAP OR COVER FOR PRESERVE-JARS.

SPECIFICATION forming part Of Design No. 32,610, dated May 1, 1900. Application filed January 19| 1900. Serial No. 2,076- Term of patent 14 years.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, RUTH A. GILCHRIST, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Cap or (lover for Preserve-Jars; and I do hereby dcclare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of a cap or cover for a fruit or food jarconstrueted in accordance with my design. Fig. 2 is a similar view, but looking at the cap or cover in a slightly-diiferent position. Fig. 3 is a vertical section through the cap or cover.

The leading features of my design consistof a cap or cover having a cylindrical body portion provided with an inverted downwardlyextending eoneshapcd displacing projection and a vertical flange provided with an inter rupted worm-thread and a horizontal portion connecting the upper edge of the flange portion with the upper edge of the cone-shaped displacing projection, with a arge annular space between the flange and displacing pro- ,jcetion.

In the accompanying drawings, 1 represents the main body portion of the cap 01' cover, which is cylindrical in form and is provided with an upper flat surface 2 and a downwardly-extending cone-shaped projection 3, which extends from the inner edge of the flat portion 2 a considerable distance downwardly, as shown. The cap or cover is also provided with a vertical flange 4, which projects downwardly from the outer edge of the fiat portion 2, with a large annular space 5 between it and the displacing projection, and is provided With an interrupted worm-thread G. The lower edge of the flange 4 is also provided with a peripheral groove 7, which extends all around said lower edge.

Having now described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The design fora cap or cover for a preservejar, substantially as herein shown and described.
