DESIGN FOR A FURNITURE-LEG.
SPECIFICATION forrning part of Design No. 31,289, dated July 25, 1899.

Beitknown thatLJAMEsT. KI'ICUEN, a citi Zen of the United States,residin g at Rnshville, in the county of Bush and State of Indiana, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Furniture-Leg, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to a new and original design for a furniture-leg; and it has for its object to provide a design of this character which will be both ornamental and attractive.
The essential feature of the design resides in afurnitnre-leg having an ornamental panel or portion provided with horizontal rows of similar ornamental flutes, each row consisting of a series of tapering depressions provided at opposite sides with convex faces, the contiguons sides of the adjacent depressions merging into each other and forming rounded or convex portions.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective View of a f urnitu re-leg, showing my new and original design. Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional view.
Referring to the drawings, 1 designates a fn'rnitnredeg provided with an ornamental panel or section 1, having horizontal rows of flutes, each row consisting of a series or ta pering depressions 2, provided with convex sides 3, and the latter have a slight concave curve in longitudinal section. The contiguous sides of the adjacent tapering depressions form rounded portions 4- and merge into each other. The horizontal rows of flutes are separated by an intervening ridge 5, composed of series of approximately V-shaped portions, and the bottoms of the depressions are concavely curved from the ends thereof. The curves between the outer points or apexes of the V-shaped ridges are long and deep, While those between the inner apexcs at the rounded portions a are shallow or slight. The upper and lower portions of the furniture-leg are shown in dotted lines.
