GEORGE K. CUMMINGS, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A PRISM-WINDOW.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No, 29,806, dated December 13, 1898.
Application filed August 15, 1898. Serial No. 683,626. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE K. CUMMINGS, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and useful Design for Prism-\Vindows, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a new design for prism-windows, and is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is an elevation or front view of a prism-window embodying my said design, and Fig. 2 is a vertical cross-section through the window on a line a little to the right of the middle of the window, as seen in Fig. 1.
The design consists of a number of variously-shaped panes, plates, or lights of prismglass grouped together so as to form a single window or design.
The parallel cross-lines of the drawings represent the angular edges of the glass prisms, which, with a body portion of glass, eonstitute the said panes, plates, or lights. The heavier doubled lines of the drawings represent the framework.
The design is described as follows: Within a rectangular parallelogram appear a number of substantially parallel lines having double curves, like the letter S, and similar lines with reverse curves crossing them at various predetermined points, said lines being the boundaries of variously-shaped prism-lights, the whole producing the effect of a barred or grated window with curved gratings, as clearly shown in the drawings.
At the bottom of the design there is a row of substantially triangular shaped prism lights, then a row of kite-shaped prism-lights,
then a row of oval-shaped prism-lights, then GEORGE K. CUMMINGS Witnesses:
