To all whont it may concern.-
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN S. \VHITE- HEAD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Newark, in the county of Essex and State 5 of New Jersey, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Badge; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art IO to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to a certain new and original design for a badge; and it consists in the general outline and the surface ornamentation upon the face thereof, as will be more fully hereinafter described and claimed.
In said drawings, Figure 1 represents a face or plan View of my design for a badge, and Fig. 2 is an end View of the same.
Similar letters of reference are employed in the drawings to indicate corresponding 2 5 parts.
The above-described views are deemed sufficient to fully illustrate my design, the leading features of which consist in the general outline of the badge and. the ornamental flag 3o drapery at and near the marginal edge of the same, as will be hereinafter fully set forth and claimed.
Referring to the drawings, the badge is formed by an ornamental disk or button at, having a circular marginal edge a, which when viewed from the side forms a bead-like structure (t tapering backwardly and inwardly toward the center of the disk or button a, substantially as illustrated in Fig. 2 of the drawings. The outer face of said disk or button a is also made convex, as shown.
On the face of the badge, at or near the marginal edge a of the same, is the representation of a flag draped in graceful folds, as clearly illustrated in both figures of the drawings. Said representation of flag drapery is indicated by the reference-letter 11.
Having thus described my inventiomwhat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a badge, substantially as herein described and shown.
In testimony that I claim the invention set forth above I have hereunto set my hand this 20th day of October, 1898.
