DESIGN FOR A CLIP-BLANK FOR CANT-HOOKS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,518, dated October 18, 1898.
Application filed September 19, 1898. Serial No. 691,383- Term of patent 14 years.

Be it known that 1, WILLIAM B. PROUTY, a ltizen of the United States, residing at Ridg- 'ay, in the county of Elk and State of Pennvlvania, have invented and produced a new nd original Design for a Clip-Blank for Cantlooks, of which the following is a specificaon.
This invention relates to a new and origial design for a clip-blank for cant-hooks; nd it has for its obect to provide a'design of his character that shall be both useful and rnamental.
The leading or essential feature of the deign resides in a clip-blank having an apu'oxiniately rectangular body-plate provided t its side extremities with thickened squared ar portions having openings therein and proided below the plane of such openings with iterally-offset triangular lug projections, aid body-plate being further provided at its p edge and centrally between the squared ar portions thereof with a rounded u p-st-andrig lip.
XVhile the distinctive features of the deign sought to be covered have been pointed ut, the minor features of the design may be tated to be the ear portions of the body-plate lavinginclined edges forming one of the faces f the triangular lug projections and the uody-plate provided below the plane of said ug projections with an apron-extension havng obtuse-angled side edges and V-shaped noints at its upper corners.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is (perspective view of a clip-blank for cantrooks embodying the herein-described deign. Fig. 2 is a plan view or elevation hereof.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, the numeral 1 designates the body-plate of an approxirnatelyn'ectangular outline and provided at its opposite side extremities with thickened squared ear portions 2, having circular openings 3 therein and provided below the plane of such openings with laterally-offset triangular lug projections 4:. The said squared ear portions 3 are further provided with inclined faces 5, forming one of the faces of the triangular lug projections l, and at their upper inner corners with the laterally-projecting bosses G.
The body-plate has the top edge thereof sigmoidally curved into the ear portions 2 and is provided at such edge and centrally between the ear portions with a rounded upstanding lip 7.
The body-plate 1, in addition to the features already described, is further provided below the plane of the lug projections 4 with a socketforming apron extension 8. This apron extension 8 forms a continuation of the main upper portion of the body-plate and is provided with obtuse-angled side edges 9 and at its upper corners, at one side of the lug projections 4, with V-shaped points 10.
What is claimed is- The design for a clip-blank for cant-hooks, herein shown and described.
