As shown in the drawings, the leading feature of my design consists in a case outlined by scrolls and having the figure of a naval oflicer at each side and a battle-ship at the top.
In said drawings, a a and b 19 indicate opposite pairs of long scrolls outlining the feet of the case and having their concavities facing inward toward each other. Small out wardly-facing scrolls c c are displayed at the lower part of the outer sides of said feet. At the upper and outer part of the feet are outwardly-concave scrolls (Z d, and above each of said scrolls is the figure of a naval officer e, appearing to stand upon the scroll cl at the side of the case.
The upper ends of the inner scrolls a a of the feet lie close together, and directly above is a centrally-disposed circular opening f for a dial. At each opposite side of said opening f is a pair of small scrolls g g, placed with their convexities contiguous, and directly above each pair of small scrolls is arranged a pair of larger outwardly-convex scrolls h h, inclosin g between them a spiral-shaped ornament Z.
Above each pair of scrolls 7:, 7L is a circular opening i for a dial, and between said openings t 't', and in line with the centrally-disposed circular opening f is a central oblong opening j for a thermometer.
The top of the case is ornamented by the representation of a battle-ship 7t, and between said battle-ship and the openings 1' i and j is an irregularlinem of small scrolls and curves.
