DESIGN FOR A SEAT-POST FOR BICYCLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,900, dated June 21, 1898.
Application filed October 11, 1897. Serial No. 654,893. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, BENJAMIN F. FIELD and WILLIAM J. SIIEDD, citizens of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Seat- Posts for Bicycles, &c., of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
The said drawing represents in side elevation a seat-post embodying our present design.
The leading feature of our design consists in the two parallel members depending or extending downwardly and forwardly at a slightly-acute angle from a substantiallyhorizontal seat-support.
The letter A indicates a support to which a seat or saddle may be directly attached arranged horizontally with relation to the horizon and having depending therefrom two standards or posts B B, one in front of the other.
C indicates an enlarged portion of the forward standard B, made cylindrical in crosssection and having near the top an encircling enlargement D, provided with a bracket or arm E, extending backwardly in the same vertical plane with the part A and terminating in an enlargement F, encircling the standard B. Depending from the portion F in line with the standard B is a cylindrical portion G,-constitnting in appearance an elongation of the said standard B.
\Vhat we claim is The design for a seat-post for a.bicycle saddle substantially as herein shown and described.
