INVENTOR INTO/"IE7 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ARTHUR DANBY, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO THE IVIXS, DIETZ & METZGER COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,782, dated March 16, 1897.
Application filed January 9, 1897. Serial No. 618,658. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ARTHUR DARBY, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, residing at Philadelphia, county of Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Carpet Fabrics, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this specification.
My design is suitable for carpet fabrics generally, but is particularly adapted to rugs.
The drawing shows one of the four corners of a rug embodying my design.
The body A has a dark background having in the vicinity of the border clusters of minute figures alternating with larger figures distinctly separated from the ground, as shown. The centerpiece,one-quarter of which is shown, is also sharply separated from the ground, but differs somewhat in detail from the other large figures of the body, as shown.
The border B has its ground about half concealed by large figures and groups of smaller figures alternately arranged, flanked bysoveral rows of small figures similar in appearance and minute in detail, as shown.
Having now fully described my design, what I claim is 1. In a design for a carpet fabric, the body A, substantially as shown.
2. In a design for a carpet fabric, the border B, substantially as shown.
3. The design for a carpet fabric comprising the body A and the border B.
In testimony of which invention I have hereunto set my hand.
ARTHUR DANBY.
