WM m. )u. (M M UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE ALBERT S. NElVBY, OF KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI.
DESIGN FOR A GRATE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,493, dated January 5, 1897. Application filed Oc ober 6, 1896. Serial No 608.065. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ALBERT S. NEWBY, a :itizen of the United States, residing at Kan- ,s City, in the county of Jackson and State )f Missouri, have invented a certain new and )riginal Design in a Combined Front and Hot- ;om Grate; and I do hereby declare the folowing to be a full, clear, and close description hereof.
The leading features of my design consist n a front and bottom stove-grate in the same tame and arranging upon the frame certain )rojections, ribs, and grooves, with one or nore holes through said frame, all of which will fullyappearin the following specification md accompanying drawings, which form :1 )art hereof, and in \Yhich Figure 1 represents a perspective View of ny design. ig. 2 is a cross-section through ine X X of Fig. 1.
In the drawings the portion of the frame nrrounding the bottom grate is designated iy A. It has upon its upper surface wedge haped projections a. Along one end runs a ib b, and through the frame near the rib I) .re a number of oblong holes 0. The grate proper is constructed with two parallel bars 1; and cross-bars d, with journals C.
The front grate, which is set in the frame integral with the bottom grate, has a bar e near the bottom and a wide plate D along the top, forming the upper portion of the frame. The bar e and the plate D are united by the cross-bars f. The side of the frame is thickened at g, and a longitudinal groove It extends the entire length of the plate Dnear its upper-edge. It will be seen that this unity of the two grates in one frame and the groove, rib, holes, and projections on said frame form a unique design.
What I claim, and desire to soon re by Lettors Patent, is
The design fora frontand bottom grate for stoves, as deseri bed and shown in the accompanying drawings.
