SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,204, dated October 20, 1896.
Application filed September 2, 1896. Serial No. 604,689. Term of patent 14: years.

Be it known that I, CHARLES II. SMITH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Newiield, in the county of Gloucester and State 0f New Jersey, have invented a new and original Design `for Trowels, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for trowels; and it has for its 0bjeet to provide a design of this character that shall be both useful and ornamental.
The leading feature of the design resides in a trowel-body comprising a pair of duplieate fiat rectangular oblong blades disposed at right angles to eaeh other and eonvergently arranged, so as to merge into a common point at one edge, parallel V-shaped frames fitted against the blades in the angle therebetween, and a cylindrical handle disposed parallel with the blades at a point intermediate of their opposite edges and carrying at its opposite ends inwardly-disposed parallel armpieees fitting in the angles of said Vshaped frames.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a trowel embodying the herein-described design. Fig. 2 is a top plan view thereof.
The numeral l designates a trowel-body com prisin g a pair of duplicate flat rectangular oblong blades 2, disposed at right angles to eaeh other and eonvergently arranged, so as to merge into a eonnnon point 3 at one edge. Parallel V-shaped frames 4 are fitted against the inner sides of the blades and register with the angle therebetween, and a eylindrieal handle 5 is disposed parallel with the blades at a point intermediate between the oppositely-loeated edges thereof. A pair of parallel arm-pieces 6 are projected inwardly, respectively, from opposite ends of the cylindrical handle and register at their inner extremities, as at 7, in the angle of said V-shaped frames.
