UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAMES G. CLARK AND SAMUEL F. PRICE, OF OSIIKOSII, \VISCONSIN.
DESIGN FOR A HANDKERCHIEF OR SIMILAR FABRIC.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,169, dated October 6, 1896.
Application filed July 31, 1896. Serial No- 601,253. Term of patent 8% years.
To all whom, it may concern-- lie it known that we, JAMES G. CLARK and SAMUEL 1*. PRICE, citizens of the United States, residing at Oshkosh, in the county of \Vinnebago and State of Wisconsin, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Fabrics; and we do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact descriptionof the same, reference being had to the accoinpanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
In the accompanying drawing the figure is a plan view of our design, it being the intention to print the same upon enameled cloth or other suitable material.
The leading feature of our design consists in acircular disk upon a United States shield, and upon the disk the sign of a dollar, thus: This disk may be either on a plane with the shield or raised above it, and is preferably printed the color of gold. The shield contains the stars and stripes in the usual colors. Above the disk and shield is the representation of the American eagle, rampant,
with wings outstretched, grasping with its claws the edge of the disk. Upon each side are two partially-draped American flags upon two staffs, a portion of the staffs being concealed behind the shield, the staffs extending diagonally, upwardly, and outwardly. Above the shield and between the stalfs we provide two portraits. Below the shield is a panel, upon which may be printed any suitable words.
Our design is intended to be printed in suitable and appropriate colors and used for labels, shields, and other campaign purposes.
What we claim is The design for a fabric, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof we affix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
JAMES G. CLARK. SAMUEL F. PRICE. Witnesses:
LUELLA M. BUBLITZ, FRANK E. GROVE.
