UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES FENWICK GARAGHTY, OF BAY CITY, MICHIGAN.
. DESIGN FOR A CAM PAlGN BADG E.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,144, dated October 6, 1896. Application filed August 3, 1896. Serial No. 801,561. Term of patent 3 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, CHARLES Fnxwlcx GARAGHTY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bay City, in the county of Bay and State of Michigan, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Campaign-Badges, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms a part thereof, said drawing being a side or face view of my newly-designed campaign-badge.
The leading feature of my design consists of a bicycle-frame A, provided with the usual wheels 13, the frame being of the usual or diamond form and being provided with pedals C, a handle-bar D, a seat E, and mounted on the seat is a figure F, which represents Brother Jonathan or Uncle Sam. Formed on or secured to the center of each wheel is a circular disk G, on which are placed pictures or representations of the presidential candidates, which are stamped, molded, engraved, or otherwise formed thereon, and it will be understood that each side of the badge may present precisely the same appearance, in which event the badge may be connected with or suspended from a garment by means of a tape or ribbon, or said badge may be provided at one side with a pin for this purpose, in which event the side with which the pin is connected, or the reverse side, will not present the appearance of the design as herein shown and described, and the bicycle is also represented as mounted upon a plate or board H, which is transversely divided into separate sections K.
My improved design may be made of any desired material, and is attractivein appearance and 'may be used for advertising purposes by bicycle man ufactnrers or as a campaignbadge for bicyclists and others.
Having fully described my new and original design, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The design for a campaign-badge, herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name, in presence of the subscribing witnesses, this 27th day of July, 1806.
CHARLES FEXWICK GARAGIlTl'.
