ATTORNEY UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
\VILLIAM J. LANE AND GEORGE LANE, OF POUGHKEEPSIE, NE\V YORK.
DESIGN FOR A PULLEY-BLOCK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,038, dated September 15, 1896.
Application filed July 29, 1896. Serial No. 600,988. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, WILLIAM J. LANE and GEORGE LANE, citizens of the United States, residing at Poughkeepsie, in the county of Dutehess and State of New York have invented and produced a new and original Design for Pulley-Blocks; and we do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the aeconi pan yin g drawin gs,forn1in g a part thereof.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a pulleyblock,sh0wing ourdesign. Fig. 2 is a section of the same on line 2 2 of Fig. 1.
The leading feature of our design consists of a pair of parallel sides or cheeks for the pulley-biock, which are curved or bent at their ends so as to meet at said ends, as best shown in Fig. 2. W hen viewed in side elevation, as in Fig. 1, each of said sides or cheeks is of the shape of a lozenge or rhombus, with the corners replaced by curves.
1 1 are sides or cheeks of the pulley-blocks, which are parallel throughout the greater portion of their length, but have their ends curved or bent toward each other until they touch, when they are continued on in juxtaposition, as shown at f. and 3. \Vhen viewed in side elevation, the pulley has a lozenge shape with the corners at 4, 5, o, and 7 rounded off, as shown. There is a small circular hole 9 through the center of the pulley and larger circular openings 8 8 at either end, in which latter are inserted slightly-flaring thimbles 10 10. The result is a pulley-block which when Viewed from any direction presents a smooth well-balanced outline of curves and tangents without any angles or sharp corners whatever.
Vhat we claim is The design for pulley-blocks substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof we afiix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM J. LANE. GEORGE LANE. Witnesses:
E. M. MEEKs, CLARENCE SAYERS.
