lie il known that wc, WinLiAn ll. IErlEn and Anrzn'r 'l'. I.. DAVIS, of Laconia, in the county ol' lelknap and State ot' New [Ia-inpshre, have invented and produced a new and original Design [ora lattern for Knit Fabrics, of which the following is a specilication.
Uur new and original design for a pattern for knit fabrics is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which shows a plan View of a knit fabric with the designed pattern applied thcrclo.
As shown in the drawing, the pattern is composed of diamond-shaped blocks A l5, arranged alternatelyr along diagonal lines; or, in other words, the blocks A are arranged in longitudinal rows, and the blocks B are likewise arranged inlongitudinal rows, but staggered with reference to the blocks A. Each diamond-shaped block A is composed of paralel wales u b of contrasting shades or colors, the wales a being the predominating and characteristic ones. The central wale a of the several blocks A B in one longitudinal row is continuons throughout all the blocks in the row. Each block B has acentral space c and a border d. The central space c is, like the blocks A, composed of parallel Wales a b of contrasting shades or colois, the wales a being the predominating and characteristic ones. The border l surrounds thc foursiiles of the central space fr and is composed of altennating stripes cfof contrasting colors or shades. Said stripes r f are perpendicular lo the wales uv b. shade or color as the wales u, and the stripesl f are of the same shade or color as the wales Il.
The essential feature of the pattern consists of the diagonallyalternating diamondshaped blocks, one halt being composed of parallel waleso( contrastingcolors or shades, while cachot' lhealternatingdia|nondsl1aped blocks of thc other half is composed of a celltral portion or space composed of parallel wales of contrasting shades or colors, surrounded on all four sides by a border composed of parallel stripes of contrasting shades or colors perpendicular to the said wales.
