asses.-
UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIcE.
AUGUSTINE O. VEST, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR A GAS OR OIL STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,601, dated August 20, 1895. Application filed January 7, 1895. S ial No, 634,136. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AUGUSTINE 0. WEST, a citizen of the United States, residing in Boston, in the county of Suttolk, State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Gas or Oil Stoves, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, representing said design.
This design is embodied in the general configuration of the stove, which comprises an upraised base or stand from which rise four uprights adapted to support a top plate which is T-shaped, while a cylindrical body unites the top and bottom portions of the stove.
The peculiar characteristics of my design are contained in a rectangular base-plate 2,
which is apertured at 3 upon the top. The
side surface portions slope outwardly and are similarly apertnred, while suitable legs 4 hold the stand upraised upon the floor on which the stove is designed to rest. Eccentrically of this base-plate is located a cylindrical body 5, which is capped by a fiat top plate 6. The general configuration of this top is that of a T; or, more specifically stated, said top comprises a rectangular part 7, which corresponds with that of the base or stand 2 in part, but
is somewhat smaller, covering only a portion thereof. From one side of said top and projecting above the surface of the base-plate not covered by the part 7 extends a leaf 8, which corresponds to the leg of the T. The under surface of the cap 6 is formed with a pendent portion 9, into which the upper end of the cylindrical body5 terminates. The leaf or shelf 8 is formed as a unit with the part '7, but is somewhat less in width, while the same form of molded edge extends continuously about the plate and the shelf. This top plate or cap 6 is further formed with circular openings on its upper side, and these openings may contain imperforate circular covers 10 or anopen grid 12. Cylindrical rods or posts 13, located at the four corners of the top part 7, unite said top with the base-plate or stand.
What I claim is- The design for a gas or oil stove, substantiall y as described and shown.
In testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand, in the presence of two witnesses, this 10th day of December, 1894.
AUGUSTINE 0. WEST.
In presence of FREDK. SKINNER, H. E. Lonon.
