DESIGN FOR A TOBACCO-CASING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,237, dated April 23, 1895.
Application filed February 19 1895. Serial No. 539.013. Term of' patent 7 years.
To ail whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, WILLIAM IIOFEEAUER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illi- 5 nois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Tobacco-Casing; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description ot' the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawo ings, forming a part thereof.
Ifignre 1 is a perspective ofthe casing showing my design; and Fig. 2 is a perspective of the casing from the other side to that shown in Fig. l.
5 The leading feature of my design consists in a casing for tobacco having the appearance of a sock with a portion thereof folded upon itself.
In the drawings the numeral l indicates the o portion corresponding to the foot of the sock; the numeral t?. the portion corresponding to the leg of the sock which is folded upon the foot portion; and the numeral 8 the portion corresponding to the top of the sock. The portion l is illustrated as of oblong shape with 2 5 its sides curved or rounded in cross section, and the portion 2 as attened and lying upon the portion l, and the portion 3 as contracted or tapering so as to correspond to the top of the sock. The end which corresponds to the 3o top of the sock may be distended and drawn over the end of the casing so as to impart to the casing the appearance ot having the top of a sock drawn over the end thereof to give the general appearance of a cap or cover 35 formed by the top of the sock drawn over the end ofthe foot portion or body of the sock.
