Application filed April 16,1894. Serial No. 507,772- Term of patent 7 yrnrs To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM It. Union, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Paul, in the county of Ramsey and State of Minnesota, have invented and produced a new and original Design fora Badge, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, showing the design, in which- Figure] is a face view, and Fig. 2 is an edge View of a badge embodying my design.
The leading characteristic features of my design consist of the ornamentation upon and shape of the badge as hereinafter described and as shown in the drawings.
In the center of the badge is therepresentation of a. human face. Surrounding the face is a band, circular in shape and broken by the rays running from the face to the edge of the band, the face and circular baud surrounding it representing the dark center of a sunflower. Upon the circumference of the band are twenty four leaves, twelve of them being front leaves and showing their full form each having its point turned toward the right, and twelve being back leaves showing only the proportion of the leaf that would naturally show when the point was placed midway between the points of the frontlayer of leaves.
This design is set in a diamond shaped field as shown between the outer edge of the sunflower and the dark lines of the border.
The entire design is surmounted by the border as shown in theaecompanying drawings. Upon the inside of this border, surrounding the diamond field and marking its confines is a broken or dotted line; on the outside the border is finished with the escalloped edge while between the dotted. lines and escalloped edge are the ornamental lines as shown in the drawings.
What I claim is The design fora badge as herein described and shown.
