C uonnu UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LOUIS OSTLUND, OF NEW LONDON, MINNESOTA.
DESIGN FOR A CHAIR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 23,425, dated July 3, 1894.
Application filed May 28,1894- Serial No. 512|80L Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LOUIS OSTLUND, acitizen of the United States, residing at New London, in the county of Kandiyohi and Stateof Minnesota, have invented a certain new and original Design for Chairs, Seats, and Similar Articles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to a new and original design for chairs and analogous articles in which the leading feature is a bird with outspread wings constituting the back, a spreading tail forming the seat, and a rear ornamental projection, as the head of an elephant, on which the bird is perched, as shown in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is afront elevation of a chair showing my design. Fig. 2 is a side elevation.
The frame A is shown mounted upon rockcrs B. The body of the bird 0 with outspread wings D constitutes the back. The spreading tail E forms the seat or bottom. The rear ornamental projection G, represents an elephants head with elevated trunk. The component parts, or elements of the wings and tail approximate the form and represent feathers in the position which they will assume in spreading wings of fowl.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a chair or analogous article substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
