IMPROVEMENT IN TIP-CHAIRS.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, BERNARD A. GARLAN, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Tip-Chair, of which the following is a specification The drawing represents a perspective View of my tip-chair.
This invention relates to a new manner of constructing chairs tojncrease the comfort of their occupants and consists in inclining the chair back and seat and applying to the back supporting-braces which will hold it inclined, all for the purpose of giving to the chair the favorite tipped position without any of the risks which are connected with such position on ordinary chairs.
In the drawing, the letter A represents the chair-seat, supported by front legs B B and rear legs 0 G, the latter being connected with the chair-back D. The front legs are made considerably longer than those behind and cut at the lower ends at an angle so that the chair will stand considerably inclined, as shown. In this position the chair is sustained by adfort to all those who at present prefer to tip the chairs backward whichthey occupy.
The invention is applicable to cane bottom and back chairs as well as all others.
Having thus described my invention, Iclaim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- Thechair having the inclined seat and back and back braces E, as set forth, for the purpose specified.
