UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOIIN A. DRILL, (JF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR AN AXLE-BOX FRAME.
SPECIFICATION fOrming part of Design No. 22,490, dated May 30, 1893.
Application ieri February 4| 1893. Serial No. 461,071. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN A. BRILL, a citizen of theUnited States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and useful Design for Axle-Box Frames, ot' which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of the saine.
The present design relates to the conformation of what is known in the art as an axle box frame, and the essential feature thereof lies in the continuity or outline of the side and cross members, and in the relative positions and contour of other parts.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a perspective elevation. Fig. 2 is a side elevation; and Fig. 3 an end elevation.
This axle box frame, is formed continuous in outline with side bars l of the frame having between their ends inverted U shaped yokes 2, and extending from the yokes are the extensions 3. The extensions 3 are bif u rcated at their outer portions, as at 4, forming two parallel ears 5 and between the inner ears extends a cross bar G, which unites the side members and forms a frame rectangular in general outline, and having the yokes eX- tending above the web of the side bars and the cross bars, with the bifurcations lying without the yokes. Adjacent to the yokes are swelled portions 7 in which are holes 8, which pass through the side bars and the extensions thereof. It will be noticed that the side and cross bars lie in the same general plane, and that the yokes extend above the plane of such side and cross members.
I claim- The design for an axle box frame, substantially as herein shown and described.
Signed at the city of Philadelphia, county of Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, this 1st day ot February, 1893.
JOHN A. BRILL.
