DESIGN FOR A CEILING-PLATE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,275, dated March 7, 1893.
Application filed February 4, 1893. Serial No. 461,221- Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, WILLIAM S. GRAFTON, residing at Steubenville, in the county of Jet'- ferson and State of Ohio, and EDWIN 0. EW- ING and ALEXANDER GLASS, residing at W heeling, in the county of Ohio and State of W'est Virginia, citizens of the United States, have invented and produced anew and original Design for Metallic Finishing-Plates for Buildings,of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing, forming part hereof, which shows a metallic finishing-plate or ceiling-plate designed aceording to our invention.
Our design consists of a metallic finishing plate A, having four principal parts, I, 2, 3 and 4, each of which is one-fourth the area of the entire plate. The parts 2 and 3 are similarly ornamented, and the parts 1 and 4 are similarly ornamented; the ornamentation of the parts 1 and 4 differs from the ornamentation of the parts 2 and 3. The parts 2 and 3 are each sub-divided into four equal sub-divisions B, by ribs or ridges a, and ribs or ridges a crossing the ribs (1, and arranged at right angles thereto. Each of the sub-divisions B, is provided with ribs or ridges b, which cross each other at the center of the sub-division B, and connect the opposite angles thereof. The sub-divisions 1 and 1 are each sub-divided into four equal parts by parallel ribs or ridges a, and parallel ribs or ridges a crossing the ribs (1, and arranged at right angles thereto. Each of the sub-divisions B, is provided with arc-shaped ribs or ridges c,connecting the angles of the sub-divisions and each having the same radius. At the junctions of the ribs a a, in all the parts 1, 2, 3 and 4, there is formed a rosette or a circular projection D.
The essential feature of our design isa metallic finishing plate divided into four equal parts, the two parts diagonally opposite each other being similarly ornamented, two of said parts having straight, parallel ribs intersected by other such ribs, and each sub-division in these parts having ribs crossing each other and connecting the diagonally opposite angles of each sub-division, the other two parts of the plate having the sub-divisions each provided with four arc-shaped ribs or ridges connecting the four angles thereof.
