DESIGN FOR AN ESCUTCHEON-PLATE.
SI ECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,218, dated February 14, 1893.
Application filed December 21. 1892- Serial No. 455.947- Term of patent 7 years.
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, \VILLIAM B. DITMARS, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Stamford, in the county of Fail-field and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new and original Design for an Escuteheon-llate for a Lock, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accoinpanyingdrawings, forminga part of this specification, and in which Figure I is a front view showing my design. Fig. II is a longitudinal section on the line II-II Fig. I. Fig. III is a transverse section on the line IIIIII Fig. I.
The leading features of my design consist in the central body having the lateral flaring wings with rounded ends. In addition to these features, the body is shown provided with a centrally disposed key-hole and a pair of similarly formed artistically curved end-pieces arranged substantially at right-angles to the line of the wings, while the wings are slotted and provided with rounded projections and perforations.
1 represents the body of my design and 5 the pair of similar lateral flared wings. The body is shown with a centrally disposed keyhole 2 surrounded by a head 3, and artistically curved end portions 4. The wings are shown with slots or openings 6 whose sides are parallel with the adjacent diverging sides of the wings to present a radiating appearance, and rounded projections 7 with perforations or screw holes 8.
Having thus described my invention the following is what I claim as new therein and dosire to secure by design Letters Patent- The design for an escutcheon for a lock, substantially as herein described and shown.
