UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
(HCRHC IC. ADAMS, Ol" PROVIDENVF, llllllll ISLAND.
DESIGN FOR A BUCKLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 21,363, dated February 23, 1892.
Application filed January 21, 1892. Serial No. 418.355, Term nl patent 7 years.
To a!! whom t may concern:
lie it known that l, GEORGE E. ADAMS, of lrovidence, iu the county of Providence and l\'tateof Rhode Island, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Buckles, ol' which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying d rawing, forming part thereof.
ll`he drawing, is a front View of a buckle representing my new design.
The leading features of my design for buckles consist in the symmetrical outlines ofthe buckle-plate and the bar from which this plaie depends.
2 in the drawing indicates a surface representing a bar from which the buckle-plate proper depends. From the lower edges of this surface 2 the outline of the buckle-plate extends in outward downward curves 3 3, then inward and outward in generally contracting directions to 4 4, from where it curves inward and slightly upward to 5 5. The outlines now curve slightly inward and downward to (i 6, and then extend upward and approach each other at 7 7, from whence they curve upward and slightly outward 'to meet the rectangular clasp-ornament S, the upper edge of which is connected with the curved portions 3 3 by wave-like lines in the surface of the plate.
'lhc inner edges extend iu directions to represent, with the outlines above described, two large loops, the greatest diameter of which is at I3 IS, and two smaller loops, the lower ends of which form the contracted portion of the buckle-plato, these loops being held together in the center by the rectangular clasp ornament S.
The surface ornamentation consists, mainly, of shading lines to accentuate the representation of loops of textile material in graceful positions, the outlines of the larger loops beiup,r also indicated as crossing` the surfaces of the smaller loops.
The design for buckles, as herein shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
