To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK A. ROBBINS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pittsfield, county of Berkshire, State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Ornamentation of a Spoon or Fork, of which the following is a full and clear description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
My design is intended exclusively as an ornamentation for a spoon or fork; and it consists in the features shown in the fac-simile accompanying, in which- Figure 1 represents afront view of a spoon; Fig. 2, a back View of the same.
The invention relates to the ornamentation of the handle and bowl of a spoon or the handle of a fork, and its object is to provide an ornamental and aesthetic pattern for the handles and bowls of such articles which will give them a unique, characteristic, and historical appearance.
The leading features of my design reside in the representation of an elm-tree and an old church edifice, the branches of the tree spread at the widest portion of the handle, and are provided with foliage conforming somewhat to the shape of the handle. At the lined in the background, and a representa- I tion of a rail fence is shown in the foreground. Below the tree on the narrower portion of the handle is arranged a number of characters or letters so associated as to produce the appearance of ornamentation. The whole design is stamped or raised, producing the appearance of bas-relief. the handle is a series of letters or characters arranged so as to produce an ornamental effect. The bowl is likewise ornamented with an architectural design approximating in character an old church edifice.
In the accompanying drawings, Fig. 1, A is the tree; B, the bench; O, the rail fence; D, the bowl of the spoon; E, the design on bowl. In Fig. 2', F is a spoon-handle with ornamental work.
What I claim is The design for the handle and bowl of spoons and handle of forks or other like household articles herein shown and described.
