JOHN STEPHENSON, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A FRAME FOR ELECI'RlC-CAR TRUCKS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,688, dated March 4, 1890. Application filed January 25, 1890. Serial No. 338,156. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN STEPHENSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county and State of New York,
= have invented anew and useful Design for Electric-Oar Truck-Frames, of which the following is a specification.
In the accompanying drawing I have shown a perspective view of an electric-car truck, illustrating my design for the frame thereof.
The leading feature of my present design is the X-shaped cross-rails.
Referring to the drawing, there are two parallel outside sills A B and two X-shaped cross-rails extending between the sills. Two sub-sills E F extend parallel to the side sills between the diverging ends of the cross-rails. At the point of intersection of the cross-rails there is a nose-piece G. As thus designed the 20 truckframe presents to the eye the appearance of two parallel sills and an intervening X-shaped eross piece.
What I claim is- 1. The design for an electric-car truckframe, substantially as herein shown and described, comprising the outer parallel sills, the intervening X-shaped crossuails, and the sub-sills parallel with the outer sills.
2. In a design for an electric-car truckframe, the X-shaped cross-rails and the subsills extending between the diverging ends of the cross-rails, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JOHN STEPHENSON.
