DESIGN FOR A FOLDING-BED CASE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18,813, dated December 11, 1888.
Application filed May 28, 1887. Serial No. 239,707. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES TEUFEL, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, and a citizen of the United States, have in vented and produced a new and original Design for Folding-Bed Cases, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, in which the figure is an elevation in 10 perspective.
The design consists in the several ornamental features hereinafter fully specified, and particularly pointed out in the claim, whereby a neat and tasteful appearance is given to the front of the case, as clearly shown in the accompanying illustration, and pointed out in the claim.
a represents a division between the upper and lower portion of the case. The space above the division and between the end or side pieces, a, is filled by a strip, b, adjacent to the division a, the exterior face of which strip is of an ogee shape, and the edge of each portion 0 of the side pieces which coincides with the strip bis of a corresponding ogee shape. The space above the strip b and between the portions 01 of the end or side pieces is filled by a projecting panel, e, and panels f on each side of the panel e, and abOX G the panel portion 9 f is a cap or cover, g, the edge of which projects beyond the side or end pieces, d. The space below the division a is filled by a strip, h, having an inward slope,
and below this strip his a panel portion, 1', below which is a st-rip j, out from which pro ject pieces representing the ordinary treadles of a piano. The strip h and panel portion 2' are located between end pieces or uprights, k, the front edge of which, as shown, is given an ornamental curvature, and each upright ter- 40 minates in an enlarged portion, between which is the strip j. The portion of the case above the division (1, and formed of the strip b with the ogee surface and the panels e f between the uprights or end pieces, 0 d, breaks the continuity of the front of the case and presents to the eye when viewed a Very pleasing and effective contour, and this appearance is increased by the formation of the case below the division a with the strip h and panel 2', making the entire front of the case of a very pleasing design.
I claim-- The design for an upright or folding bed case shown. and described, consisting of an upper portion formed of an ogee section, a central projecting panel with panels on each side thereof, a lower portion formed of an inward-inclined section and a pan el-section, and I all located between end uprights or pieces, substantially as described.
