DESlGN FOR A CHECK OR COUNTER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18,122, dated February 28, 1888.
Application filed December 16, 1587. Serial No. 258,141. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM M. WELLING, of the city and State of New York, have invented or produeedanew Design for Checks or Counters, of which the following is a specification.
Counters for numbers and letters and checks for clothing and for payments at restaurants, &c., have heretofore been designed -of various ornamentations.
My design relates to the ornamentation of the surface of the check, regardless of any letter, number, or character that mayor may not be upon the surface in addition to my design.

'Thisornamental design is shown at both sides of the check, as indicated in Fig. 2, and the lines thereof may be in contrasting colors to thesurface ofthe check, or the contrast may result from the lines being recessed.
I claim- The ornamental design, as herein represented, for the surface of a check, consistiugin the design of the circular figure having undulating outlines and compound curved diagonal crossing lines in representation of a circular coil of rope, a circular line outside and inside the said figure, and the flat annular surface outside and the fiat surface inside the figure on the same plane,substantially as rep resented.
