SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No.1'7,295, dated May 3, 1887.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES LEGLER, of

Willard, (Trinity Post-Office,) in the county of Trinity and State of Texas, have invented a new and Improved Design fora Shovel Cleaner or Knife, of which the following is ai'ull, clear, and exact description.

The drawing represents a side view of my newly-designed shovel cleaner or knife.

The novel feature of my design consists in a peculiar configuration of the blade and handle of the implement, substantially as hereinafter described, and shown in thedrawing.

A is the blade, and B the handle. A is of flat configuration, having its edge 8 straight and with its opposite side margins straight for a portion of their length, as ate a, terminating where they project from the ban dle in ogee outlines b b. The handle B, which is also flat, is of a straight outline configurai tion at its forward end, as at c, with its side margins partly of concave-convex shape, as at? d d e e, and joining on the one side a straight marginal continuation, f, terminating in a straight back outline, 9, having opposite The blade I rounded ends (2' e. The opposite side margin of the handle from its junction with the couvex outlines e e on said side is also of straight configuration, as atf, with a. hollow or con cave, h, in said straight portionf. The handle is further ornamented by a bevel, g, on the several outline margins of its side.

Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The design for a. shovel cleaner or knife herein shown and described, the same consist ing of a flat blade, A, and flat handle B, the blade being of a straight contour on its front and sides, with the latter terminating in ogee outlines b b, and the handle being of a straight outline configuration at its forward and back I ends and sides, joined by concavo'eonvex outlines d d, e c, and e e, and with a concave, It,

in one of its sides.
