lrintin t-Type, of which tin: following is a I face ornamented hy a series ollight llttllZtIllspecification.
The nature of my design is clearly shown in the accompanying typographic iinprt siou, to which ret'erenee is made; and it consists ot'nu ornamental litter shaded on the right by a light line and the time ornamented h a series of light horizontal lines. The nppcrand lower portions ol the letters are widened or tlat l lPlltll out, and the triangular termination is found at the ho e ot'the A, B, l ll, 1, K, M, N, 1, II, T, X, and Y, in the A. ll, )1, and N upon the right, and in the l, K, ll, and X upon the left. The letters are further ornamented by the light curved lines with dot terminations, as shown, in some eases ns in the A, B, U, I. and \*upon thelet't, in the 11, I, K, T, end U upon the right, and in the M, X, S, and Y upon the right and left. The cross-line of the A consists ol't he line having a spear-hendlike ornament upon the left of the letter, and the line followed below about centrally by the curved line with dot tcrtnination. The cross-line ot' the G is inclined and terminates at its base in the two curved lines (one on each side) with dot termination, followed by the spcar-headlikefigure. The up per portions of the B, H, K, M, N, P, R, V, \V, X, and Y are eoneaved, as shown, upon the left.
The character of the design is preserved in the lower-ease, save that the curved line with Tern; o." patent l-t \t-ais dot termination is omitt d, and in the on literals the curved line with dot termination being found in the L. .l. 5. ti. 9, and U.
I claim The design for a font of printingtype, the same consisting of an ornamental letter shaded on the right by a light line and the tail lines; the upper and lower portions ol the letters are widened or tlatlcncd out, the triangular terlninatitm found at the hose ol' the A, B, I, ll. l. li, )l. X, i. ll, '1. X, and Y, the letter further ornamented hy the light curved line with dot t rmination, as shown, in some easesns in the A, 13, (7, l, and upon the lel't, in the ll. 1. li, 'l, and if upon the right, and in the M, X, S. and Y upon the right and let'l. the cross ornament of the A consisting of t he line having a spear heatllike ornament upon the h-t't otthe letter, and the line l'oilowed below about centrally hythe curved line with [lot termination, the crossline of the G inclined and terminating at its base in the two curved lines (one on eathsitle with dotterminations, followed by the spearhead-like tignre, the upper portions of the B, H, K, M, N, I, it, \l', X and Y coueaved, as shown. upon the left, and the character of the design being preserved inthclower-case,save that the curved line with dot termination is otnittethand in the-numerals, nota bly the 2, 3, 5, ii, 9, and 0, substantially as herein shown and described.
