Description

DESIGN.
1?. MANKEY.
SURFACE ORNAMENTATION 0P WALLS Patented Jan. 12, 1886.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FREDERICK MANKEY, OF WILLIAMSPORT, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR THE SURFACE ORNAMENTATION OF WALLS, 84.0.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 16,458, dated January 12, 1886.
Application filed November 2, 1885. Serial No. 181,720. Term of patent! years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK llIANKEY, of Williamsport, Lycoming county, Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Surface Ornament-ation of \Valls, &c., of which the following is a specifi cation, reference being bad to the accompanying photograph, forming part hereof.
My design consists of pyramidal elevations alternating in rows with sets of raised parallel bars, thus presenting a checkered appearance.
The pyramidal elevations are quadrangular, as shown at A.
The sets of parallel raised bars are placed diagonally with reference to the sides of the adjacent pyramids.
In a row, as 1, the pyramids and sets of bars are disposed as follows: a pyramid, A; a set of diagonally-placed parallel bars, B, with intermediate channels, 0; a pyramid A; a set of parallel bars, D, diagonally placed in the opposite direction to bars B, with intermediate channels, E. The aforesaid parts of my design are repeated in the order named along the row. In the next adjacent row, as 2, the pyramids Aare placed opposite the sets of bars in row 1. Each set of bars B or D, with intervening channels, 0 or E, extends over the same surface area as does a pyramid A.
The number of bars here shown in each set is six; but this I may vary within the limited area.
A different grain-marking appears on the surfaces of the bars B or D from that which appears in the channels 0 or E.
I claim- 1. The design for surface ornamentation of walls, &c., substantially as herein shown and described, which consists in quadrangular pyramidal elevations and sets of raised parallel bars with intervening channels, the said bars being diagonally placed with reference to the adjacent sides of said pyramids, and the said pyramids and bars being disposed alternately in a row.
2. The design for surface ornamentation of walls, &c., substantially as herein shown and described, which consists in the pyramidal elevations A and diagonally-disposed parallel bars B D, with intervening channels, 0 E, the surface of said bars showingadifferent grain marking from that which appears in said channels, and the said pyramids and bars being disposed alternately in a row.
