DESIGN FOR A JEWEL-SETTING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 16,382, dated November 17, 1885.
Application filed September 9, I885. Serial No. 176,636. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE BECKER,Oftl1C city and county of Providence, and State of Rhode Island, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Jewel'Settings, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the setting. Fig. 2 represents a top plan View of the same. Fig. 3 represents a crosssection on the lineX X of Fig. 2.
The leading feature of my design consists in the spearheads shown in the drawings, having the raised and depressed portions, whose surfaces may be given different characters of finish for the purpose of contrasting the same, and thereby producinga novel and pleasing effect in an article of jewelry.
The drawings show a cluster of six of the spear-heads or standards 5 s, borne upon the base-plate b. These spearheads have the raised portions (1 a. and the depressions a a, and it will be seen that by giving different kinds of finish to the several surfaces presented that a varied and brilliant effect can be produced.
Having thus described my new and original design, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The design for ajewel-setting herein shown and described, the same consisting of a baseplate,b, bearing the spear-headsss, having the raised parts a a and the depressions a a.
