DESIGN FOR A RUG.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 16.178, dated July 21, 1885.
Application filed April ll, 18:35.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Aoonrn PmzoLD, a citizen of t-he United States, and a resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented 5 and produced a new and original Design for a Rug, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photographic illustration, to which reference is made.
The accompanying illustration represents one half of my rug, the design or pattern of which is shown as cut in half across the narrow part, the other half being a duplicate of what is shown.
The design consists of an outer broad border, A, surrounding an in ner narrow strip or inner border, B, and a middle rectangular panel, C. The outer border, A, is ornamented with leaves D D, resembling oak-leaves, and scrolled or 2o partially-curled leaves E E,with large flowers F F. The narrow borderB contains at inter- Terni of patent Iig years.
Vals the diamond-shaped figures GG, each ornamented with a cross, as shown. Intermediate between these figures G G is the zigzagged ornamentation H. The central panel contains 2 5 thc large scrolls and leaves I I, owers or figures J J, and a large central open scalloped ower or figure, K.
While my design may be changed in small details without destroying or changing the ef- 3o feet aimed at, its leading features are theouter broad border, A, the narrow border B, and the central rectangular panel, C, all ornamented substantially as shown in the accompanying illustration. 3 5
What I claim is- The design for arug, substantially as shown and described.
