To all who? it may concern:

Be it known that I, JOHN WEsT, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Font of Type, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact descrip tion.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying impression. forming a part of this specificzr tion, which shows my newly-designed font of type.

In my newly-designed font of type the bases of nearly all of the lowercase are straight and shaded, while the parts above the base are light lines and form an angular junction with the base-lines. The characteristic of the straight shaded base is preserved in the capi- FONT OF TYPE.

The vertical strokes of the majority of the letters composing the upper-ease begin with a hair-line and terminate in a shaded portion that forms an angle with the straight shaded base. A shaded flourish on the top part of a major portion of the upper-case also forms a distinguishing feature of my design.

Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is The design for a font of printing-type, as shown and described.
