FIB! FIGIEI wl-m zssss. w.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY G. SMITH, OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND.
DESIGN FOR AN ORNAMENTAL CHAIN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 14,107, dated July 17, 1883. Application filed March 7, 1883. Term of patent 14 years,
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HENRYG. SMITH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented a new and original Design for Ornamental Chains; and I do hereby declare thatthe following specification, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, forming apart of the same, is a full, c1ear,'and exact description thereof.
This design relates to what are known as curb-chains; and it consists in a chain composed of circular links connected and curbed.
Referring to the drawings, Figure 1 represents a front view of aportion of a single curbchain embodying the design. Fig. 2 shows a side View of the same.
Ornamental chains have been made heretofore of curbed oval links; but such curbed links present an appearance approaching a lozenge form. The links of a chain of my'design do not have thislozenge-form appearance, and possess, therefore, more grace and beauty of outline. The chain also appears more compact and of greater width comparatively than one composed of oval links.
The design maybe embodied in either a single or a double curb-chain.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for an ornamental chain, the same consisting of circular links connected and curbed, substantially as set forth and shown.
H. G. SMITH. Witnesses:
