DESIGN.
A. BUERMANN.
BRIDLH BIT PATTERN. No. 13,459. Patented Nov. 28, 1882.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
AUGUST BUERMANE', OF NEWVARK, NEW JERSEY.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Design No. 13,469, dated November 28, 1882.
Application filed October 19, 1882. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AUGUST BUERMANN, of Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Designs for Bridle-Bit Patterns, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to the design of a pattern for casting bridle-bits from malleable iron or other malleable metal; and it consists in the features substantially as hereinafter set forth.
Figure 1 is a plan. Fig. 2 is a side elevation. Fig. 3 is an end view,seen from the upper end of Fig. 1.
The principal ieatures of my'invention are shown in the upper ends, A, of the cheek-pieces B. These ends, rising up from the mouthpiece 0, have a straight portion, D, as seen in Fig. 1, but show a curve back or to the right, as seen in Fig. 2. Above this part D is a section, E, flaring outward at an angle of about forty-five degrees and connecting with the part F, which is a loop, making the upper end of the cheek-pattern. These loops lie in nearly a horizontal position, as specially seen in Fig. 3.
The mouth-piece may be inany pattern; but outside of the cheek is an extension, 0, as from the end of the mouth-piece, having in it the hole P. This extension admits of being slightly varied in its outline;
Below the mouth-piece the cheek has a portion, G, extending on a line continuing the curve substantially of the part D, as seen in Fig. 2, and forming a connection with the breast H.
Below the breast, on each side, is a. sharp projection, I, and below these projections is a curve, K, which connects at the lower end with the cross-section L of the pattern, and this sec tion L has a general semicircular form downward.
The portions below the mouth-piece admit of some variations in outline, while the principal portion of my design remains unchanged; or this lower poi-lion may be left off.
I claim-- 1. In a. design for biidle-bit patterns, the portion A, having above the mouth-piece U the section D, flaring section E, and loop F, as described and shown, and the extension 0, as set forth.
2. In combination with the upper portion, A, embracing the parts D, E, and F, and extension 0, the lower portion embracing the sections G, H, I, and K, and cross-section I), as set forth.
AUGUST BUERM ANN.
