DESIGN.
J. O. GRAHAM.
FRINGE.
Patented July 25,1882.
INVENTOR WITNESSES:
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN G. GRAHAM, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR FRINGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,087, dated July 25, 1882.
Application filed June 16, 1882. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN (J. GRAHAM, of the city and county of Philadelphia, in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Fringe, of which design the followingis a specification.
The accompanying drawing is a side view of a section of fringe emhod ing and illustrating my design, which consists in a fringe having a heading, A, to which is attached a series of pendants, B, of substantiallycylindrical contour, each composed of chenille threads twisted helically about the axis of the pendant and projecting loosely therefrom. The fringe is ornamented by presenting the appearance or effect of a series of figures of rhombns or rhoniboid ontlinethat is to say, figures the lines of demarkation of which are at an angle other than a right angle to the heading, in the manner of stripes or belts diagonal to the fringe. The alternate figures are formed respectively of warp-threads of different colors or different combinations of coloras, for example, one may be plain or shaded and the adjacent one striped; or both may be plain, shaded, or striped, but of alternately different color or arrangement of stripes, the characteristic feature of the design being the presentation of figures of the form described bydifl'ee ences alternately in their predominating color or arrangement of colors.
I clain1-- A design for fringe, consisting of a heading and a series of chenille pendants ornamented by figures whose lines of demarkation are at an angle other than a right angle to the heading, and which are alternately of different colors or combinations of colors, substantially as set forth.
J. G. GRAHAM.
