UNITED rSTATES PATENT OFFICEo WILLIAM I. UHLINGER, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A CARRIAGE-BODY.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM P. UIILINGER, acitizen of the United States, and a resident of Philadelphia,in the county ot' Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented anewand valuable Improvement in Designs for Carriage- Bodies; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference bein g had to the annexed photograph, making a. part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
This design has relation to the body7 of a carl'iage or light wagon; and it consists in the novel form or coniiguration set forth.
The letter a indicates the bottom line of the body, which is horizontal and straight from the dash-front back to the obtuse-angled nnder recess, b, at the end of the body.
The letter c represents the top edge of the body-side, which is horizontal and straight from -the rear end of the body forward to the obtuse-angled cut-away portion d at thefront of the body between the' front seat andthe dash.
Above the straight edge c is a rectangular- 4pnneled rail-guard, e.-
The re-entrant obtuse angles g g' of the nnder recess in rear and the cut-away portion in front are similar to each other and to the salient angles h and h.
The oblique edges k and k of the recess b and cut-away portion d are parallel, and the horizontal lines thereof, l and l', would, if produced, coincide,or nearly coincide, as indicated in the drawings. The short horizontal edge l' in front extends from the foot of the oblique edge k' to the dash-front m, which is vertical. The short horizontal line lof the under recess extends from the top of the oblique edge k to the back wall, n, which is vertical.
The body may or may not have the uprigh ts o, curved top s, and brace-rails z.
What I claim and desire to secure is- The design for a carriage-body set forth, wherein the body is formed with a straight horizontal bottom edge, a, extending from its vertical front to an obtnseangled under recess, b, at its rear end, a straight horizontal upper edge, c, extcndin g from the vertical back n to an obtuseangled cut-away portion, d, in front, the parallel oblique edges k' k and the short horizontal lines l.' l extending respectively in front and rear from said oblique edges to the vertical dash and vertical back, as shown and set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence ot' two witnesses.
WILLIAM P. UHLINGER.
