Be it known that I, Newton Elkin, a citizen of the United States, residing in Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for a Shoe or Similar Article, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, form ing part thereof.

Figure l is a plan view of a shoe showing my new design.

Figure 2 is a side elevation of the shoe, partly in perspective.

Th characteristic feature of the present design resides in a shoe having an open toe and having as part of its vamp an S-shaped band extending from the instep forwardly, a wide cross hand extending from one side of the sole near the shank to the other side of the sole near the shank and passing through the upper loop of the S-shaped band, and another cross band extending from one side of the sole-near the toe to the other side of the sole near the toe and passing through the lower loop of the S-shaped hand, the cross bands being spaced from each o her and forming openings on the sides of the vamp, each of the cross bands having lines or" stitching which extend fanwise from the S-shaped band and the latter having lines of stitches parallel to its edges.

I claim:

The ornamental design for a shoe or similar article, substantially as shown and described.
