DESIGN FOR MONUMENTS.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 11,648, dated February 10, 1880. Application filed January 14, 1880. Term of patent 7 years.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JOHN THAYER, of Oleveland, in the county of Ouyahoga and State of Ohio, have originated a Design for Monu- 5 ments; and I do hereby declare the following to be a fn1l,olear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being bad to the accompanying photographic illustrations, which form part of this specification.

My design relates to monuments; and it consists of a base, A, composed of one or more sections, on which are placed two shafts, B B, the shafts surmounted with ornamental capitals B B, the whole forming two columns, upon which rests the Gothic arch 0. Upon the top of this Gothic arch may be placed any ornament or figure, D. One of the sections 20 of the base may be paneled, as shown in the drawings.

The Gothic arch may be ornamented by carving or paneling without departure from my invention.

What I claim is- 1. A monument consisting of two columns supporting a Gothic arch, substantially as shown.

2. A monument consisting of the base A, shafts B B, capitals B B, Gothic arch O, and ornament D, substantially as shown.

3. A monument consisting of the base A, paneled, as shown, shafts B B, capitals B B, Gothic arch (J, and ornament D, substantially as shown.
