UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
DANIEL B. MOULTON, OF LYNN, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR ORNAMENTING SHOES AND OTHER ARTICLES.
Specification forming part of Design No. 10,261, dated September 25, 1877; application filed Septcmber'i, 1577. [Term of Patent 3i years.)
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, DANIEL B. MoULToN, of Lynn, in the county of Essex and State of Massachusetts, have originated and designed a Pattern for Stitching or ()rnanienting Shoes or other Articles, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being" had to the accompanying drawing, making part of this specification.
The design consists in the combination of elliptic and circular arcs in such a manner that they overlap or out each other, or they reverse so as to form points or leaves and a running or vine-like pattern.
In the drawing, A shows the overlapping or cutting of circular arcs, forming a threelobed conventional corolla Sui-mounting a calyx, B, formed by the reversing of the circular and elliptic arcs, while between the contiguous flowers are leaves O formed by the overlapping or cutting of the elliptic ares. Below this is a vine-like pattern formed of semicircular arcs cutting each other on the calyx of the conventional flower, the whole forming a running pattern.
Having thus described my design, what I claim as my invention, and desire tosecure by Letters Patent, is
An ornamental design formed of elliptic and circular arcs, substantially as shown and described.
DANIEL B. MOULTON.
