To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ED\VARD LEVIN, a subject of the Czar of Russia, residing at Brooklyn, Kings county, city and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment-Forms, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to an improvement in garment forms, the object being to provide a garment form having sect-ions or portions detachably connected thereto, the said sections being for instance located at that portion of the form to which garments are temporarily sewed, pinned or otherwise secured for the purpose of fitting same.

\Vhen fitting a garment to a form, it is usual to temporarily sew or pin the same to the forms in order that it can be properly hung. lVhen garments are sewed or pinned to the forms now used, the material of the said forms is penetrated and becomes very much mutilated after a little use, so much so that it often becomes necessary to obtain a new form.

To render a garment form practically indestructible in this respect is the chief object of my invention, and to carry out such object, I provide the garment form with detachably connected sections or portions, which sections may be disconnected and replaced by other new sections when they become unfit for use. The sections which I employ may be made out of felt or other similar material, or they may be made out of the same material as that of the form itself.

I will now proceed to describe my invention in detail, the novel features of which I will finally claim, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part hereof, wherein Figure 1 illustrates a front View of a gar ment form, partly in section, embodying my improvement; Fig. 2 is a sectional plan view, the section being taken on a line aa in Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is an enlarged fragmentary sectional plan view, taken on a line bb in Fig. 1, illustrating the manner of detachably securing the sections to the form; Fig. 4 is a fragmentary sectional view of another form of detachable section. Fig. 5 is a front view of a bust form provided with a modified form of removable sections; and Fig. 6 is a plan view thereof.

Referring to the drawing, 1 indicates a portion of a garment form consisting of the bust portion 2 and skirt portion 3, a part only of which is shown.

'lVhen fitting a garment, a waist for instance, the said garment is pinned or sewed at the waist region 4 and neck region 5. T o render these regions of the form fit for unlimited use, I provide the said regions with removable sections, which may be made out of felt or the like, or any material softer than the material of the form, which is usually papier-mach, but the section may be made out of papier-mach if desirable. As is usual, I cover the form with cloth indicated by 6.

The removable sections at the waist region are indicated by 7 and are covered by cloth or the like, indicated by 8, the removable sections at the neck region are indicated by 9, and are covered with cloth, indicated by 10. The cloth coverings for the sections 7 are distinct from the covering 6 of the form 2 and are secured to the said removable sections, as are also the coverings 10, for the removable sections 9. To detachably secure the sections to the form, I provide the same with spherical lat-ch members 11, which are adapted to be snapped into sockets 12 carried by the bust form 2 as shown in Fig. 3.

As can be seen in Fig. 1, the sections 7 and 9 are carried by annual recesses 13 and 14:, respectively. The said recesses are formed when the bust form is molded. When a garment is pinned or sewed to the form the pins or needles will penetrate the material of the removable sections notwithstanding the fact that the cloth coverings of the same are supposed to receive the pins or thread, the same as the cloth covering on any garment form. It is due to the fact that pins or needles will penetrate the material of the form that the said forms are destroyed at these points. When the sections become so mutilated, as well as the cloth covering of the same, as to unfit them for further use, they may be removed from the form by pulling the spherical latches 11 out of the sockets 12. The sections may then be removed from their respective sockets and new sections placed therein. It will, of course, be understood that my removable sections or portions may be applied to suitable portions of the form other than at the neck or waist portions hereinbefore described. It will be evident that the sections may be secured to the form at the sides thereof, instead of at the front as shown.

In Fig. f I have shown a form of my detachable sections, wherein the removable section 7 is made of papieranach, the numeral 2 indicating the papier-mach body of the form and 6 the cloth covering therefor.

Figs. 5 and 6 illustrate a papier-mach bustforin 1 the outer surface of which is covered. by relatively thick pads comprising the halves 15, which are screwed or other wise secured to the form 14. The halves 1.5 will preferably be made from stiffened felt, although other material .may be used. My invention embodied in this form adapts a garment form to receive pins or needles throughout its entire outer surface, the sections being adapted for removal when unlit for use. A new section or sections can be applied at any time.

Having now described my invention, What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A papier-mach bustform having channels therein at suitable portions thereof, and sections of felt removably embedded in said channels, the outer surfaces of said removable felt sections being flush with the outer surface of the body of the bustform.

2. An integral non-yieldable one-piece bustform provided with a channel, a section of relatively softer material embedded in said channel, the outer surface of the said section being flush with the outer surface of the bustform, and means adapted to removably secure said section in said channel.
