To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JOHN I. GARLAND, of New` bury, Orange county, State of Vermont, have invented a new and useful Improved Metallic Sleigh-Post; and I do hereby declare that the following. is a full and clear description thereof, reference heilig had to the accompanying .drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon.

In the drawing-9 Figure I is a side `View, and

Figure II, a detail view of my improved sleigh-post.

The object of this invention is to obtain a strong', lighty and cheap sleigh-post, which can be more easily andsecurely attached to the bench and rail than the ordinaryy ones now in use.

In the drawings- A is the post, which is forked Vat the bottom and fastened to the runner O by means of bolts c.

At the top the post is provided with a shoulder', E,

which braces underneath the beam B, and two ears,v

a and a, each surmounted with a bolt having threads upon it. Y

The end of the beam B is set between the ears a, resting upon the shoulder E. The bolts project through the rail D and nuts b are screwed upon them, they post A, with shoulder E and ears L a, sul-mounted by threaded bolts, the whole arranged as described.
