JOHN C. MAGLAGAN, OF DAVENPORT, IOWA.
SPOOL-CABINET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 20, 1911.
Application filed February 5, 1910. Serial No. 542,300.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN C. MACLAGAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Davenport, in the county of Scott and State of Iowa, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Spool-Cabinets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a spool cabinet, and especially to a cabinet adapted to be hung upon a wall and held in an inclined position so that there will be no danger of spools being accidentally jarred off the pegs, and also in such a position that the cover will remain in open position when lifted.
The invention consists of the novel features of construction hereinafter set forth, pointed out in the claim and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which,
Figure l is an end elevation, the device being shown in position and the cover being lifted. Fig. 2 is a front view, the cover be ing lifted. Fig. 3 is a transverse section the cover being closed.
In these drawings, 1 represents a rectangular box of any desired size, which box contains a plurality of pins 2 arranged in rows from the bottom of the box and adapted to receive spools of thread. A cover 3 is hinged to an upper edge of the box and upon the bottom of the box diagonally opposite the edge to which the cover is hinged, I secure two short supporting legs 4. The rear side of the box, opposite said supporting legs is provided adjacent each end with an eye 5, and these eyes are adapted to engage suitable supporting hooks 6 secured in a Wall. It will be noted that by reason of this construction the bottom will be held by the sup porting legs 4 at an angle with respect to the wall, the bottom of the box sloping upwardly and rearwardly. This will also cause the pins 2 to occupy an upwardly and forwardly inclined position. The cover when thrown open will rest against the wall at such an angle that it will remain in' elevated position, as shown in Fig. 1.
What I claim is In a spool box, pins arranged within and carried by the bottom of the box, eyes carried by the rear side of the box, said eyes being adapted to engage wall hooks, a cover hinged to the rear side of the box and supporting legs placed beneath the front portion of the box and adapted to space the bottom from the wall and hold the same in an inclined position, as and for the purpose set fort 1.
JOHN C. MACLAGAN.
