JOSEPH KORETSKY, OF JACKSONVILLE, ILLINOIS.
GARMENT-POCKET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 30, 1911.
Application filed May 20, 1910. Serial No. 562,392.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J osnrrr KORETSKY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Jacksonville, county of Morgan, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment-Pockets, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in garment pockets and has for its object the provision of one or more secret pockets in conjunction with the garment main pocket which shall be eflicient in operation.
The invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which- Figure 1 is a side View of a coat provided with a pocket embodying my invention, Fig. 2, a section on line ww of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3, a section on line g y of Fig. 2.
The preferred form of construction as illustrated in the drawings comprises a main pocket consisting of outer and inner side members 1 and 2 respectively secured at their tops to the side 3 of the coat and provided with the usual flap 4. Within the main pocket are secured partition pieces 5 and 6 stitched together with pieces 1 and 2 at their bottom and side edges as at 7 to form a central main pocket 8 and side secret pockets 9 and 10 located adjacent either side of said main pocket and of the full size thereof. Scaling and concealing flaps 11 and 12 are secured to the upper portions of the sides of the main pocket and extend downwardly over the upper edges of the pieces 5 and 6 to cover and conceal the mouth of each of said secret pockets. To better effect this the ends of flaps 11 and 12 are stitched to the corresponding sides of the main pocket as at 13.
By this construction it will be observed that the mouth of the secret pocket is preferably concealed and protected against unauthorized entry thereto, the sealing flaps 11 and 12 appearing simply as the ordinary inner edge lining of the pocket. By securing the ends of flaps 11 and 12 this concealment is made more effective and said flaps are prevented from becoming inserted within the secret pockets, thus disclosing their mouths.
I have illustrated the construction as applied to an ordinary side coat pocket but the same may also be applied to vest, trouser or any other garment pocket.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect this is capable of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of my invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the exact details of construction set forth but wish to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claim.
Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A garment having a pocketopening, outer and inner pocket members secured to the garment on opposite edges of said opening respectively, two partition members arranged between said pocket members and dividing the space between them into a central main pocket and side secret pockets, said pocket members and said partition members being secured together at their bottom and side edges, the upper edges of said partition members being free, and flaps secured to the upper portions of said pocket members and overlapping the upper ends of said partition members, said fiaps extending below said upper edges and stitched to said members at the ends, said stitching extending to the bottom of said flaps and to points removed from said upper edges, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JOSEPH KORETSKY.
