PORTABLE RAILWAYTRACK.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, O'rro WILLIAM Mmss- NER, of 'West-mount, Province of Quebec, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Portable Railway- Tracks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same.

My invention relates particularly to portable tracks used in connection with the stocking in piles of loose commodities such as coal, gravel, and the like, the track being lifted and placed upon the pile as it grows in order to enable the commodity to be more readily unloaded from cars run onto such track.

The object of the invention is to prevent the commodity flooding onto the track when discharged from the cars, and it may be said briefly to consist of means for this purpose.

For full comprehension, however of the I invention, reference must be had to the accompanying drawings formmg a part of this specification wherein like symbols indicate corresponding parts, and in Which- Figure l is a cross section of one side of the track with a portion of a dump car shown partly in sectional view, my improved guard being illustrated in full lines performing its function and in dotted lines in position affording clearance for passing cars, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a portion of track with my improved guards in place.

The ties, 7), and rails, c, are assembled as usual in portable tracks.

The device in which the invention resides, consists of a displaceable wall, (Z, preferably planking bound together by metal straps, 6,

the wall in such a manner as to present a series of loops f at the lower edge of the latter. Staples 9 hinge these loops to the ties, and hooks L- hinged to the inner portions of the straps e a'tl'ord braces or struts for supporting the wall against outside pressure while straps on having one end a, bent up and formed with an eye serve as means for the attaclnnent of the hooks. \Vhen these walls are perpendicular to the track the loose commodity dumped outside thereof is prevented from flooding back onto the rails, and when lowered they present no obstruc tion to chains or other parts hanging from a passing car.

What I claim is as follows 1. The combination with a railway track, of a wall hinged to one side edge thereof and means for supporting such wall in perpendicular position relatively to the said track.

2. The combination with a railway track, of a wall hinged to the ends of the ties at one side thereof, a plurality of eyes clamped to the ties and a lurality of hooks hinged to the wall and at apted to engage with the eyes for supporting such wall in perpendicular position relatively to the said track.

The combination with a portable railway track, of a wall hinged to one side of such track and means for supporting such wall in a perpendicular position relatively to the track for preventing a commodity dumped beside the track from flooding back onto such track.
