DISPLAY-RACK FOR ROCKING-CHAIRS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 14, 1911.
Application filed April 7, 1910. Serial No. 554,067.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PARMER O. MoIN'rYnE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Binghamton, in the county of Broome and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display- Racks for Rocking-Chairs, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in display racks, and more particularly those for the display of rocking chairs in furniture stores.
The objects of my improvement are to provide a rack, strong but light, which can give a display of chairs and yet occupy the least needed portions of the store room, and as little of the store space as possible, by being hung to the side wall or to the ceiling, and away from the floor, thus economizing space, and at the same time giving the best and most attractive display of the chairs. I attain these objects by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in Which Figure 1 is a cross section taken on the line 1, 1 of Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a front elevation, and Fig. 3 is an end view of a modified form of my device.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
In my device I have the hanger A, composed of a fiat metallic surface extending in a vertical direction to the elbow point, B, and bent into a vertical position and extending outward horizontally, forming the arm O. The hanger A is attached to the wall, as in Fig. 1, by a suitable bolt, D. Mounted against the outer surface A, is the brace E, having a fiat surface, and held in position against A by the bolt D, and extending vertically to G, its flattened surface then being bent into a vertical position and extending obliquely until it meets the horizontal arm, C, with which it is held in contact by the rivet bolt. Mounted on F, I
have the ear H, which is joined to the brace E by the rivet I, and held substantially at right angles to E.
In another form of my device, as shown in Fig. 3, the racks are attached to a hanger J, secured to the ceiling instead of to the side walls.
My complete device is composed of a plurality of hangers, A and A as shown in Fig. 52, positioned parallel to each other, and attached to the wall, or extending from ceiling supports as above mentioned. Between said hangers, I have rods or the tubing K, K and K and K which rods run parallel to each other from hanger to hanger, being supported by the hanger, and in this way they form rests for inter-looking and supporting the rockers of the chair.
In operation I insert the rockers of the chair between the rods K and K, passing it upward to that extent as to allow the front end of the rocker to be inserted between the tube K and K thus supporting and resting the chair in position on the hanger.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and for which I desire Letters Patent, is as follows:
A display rack for chairs comprising a plurality of hangers in relatively alining positions, each comprising a vertical member, and a horizontal member, said members forming a frame, a connecting brace for said members, a member mounted on said brace for retaining a chair on the rack, a plurality of horizontal bars mounted on members and connecting the frames, and rods mounted in said last named. members.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
PARMER O. MoINTYRE.
