Description
PATENTED MAR. 20, 1906. 1
c. 1). SILVBN. I DISPLAY-RACK.
APPLIOATION IILED JULY 20, 1905.
Inventor Witnesses v @WZHJZZZWM Attorneys UNITED STAMENT oF IoE. f
CARL D. SILVEN, OF JENNINGS, LOUISIANA. DISPLAY-RACK.
To a, whom it may concern:
Be it lgnown that I, CARL D. SILvEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Jen- I nings, in thecounty of Galcasieu and State of Louisiana, have invented a new and useful Display-Rack, of which the following is a specification. I j v This invention relates to racks for the display of goods of ,various kinds, and has for its [0 object to improve the construction and increase the utilityof devices of this character.
@With these and other objects in view the present invention consists in the combination a and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accompanye ing drawings, and particularly pointed out in the ap ended claims.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved device in lowermost position. Fig; 2 is a longitudinal sectional elevation of the improved device in its elevated or tilted position.
The improved device comprises an upper frame 10, formed with spaced bars 11, and 2 5 standards 12, extending'from the corners, and a'lower frame 13, longer than the upper frame 10- and formed with spaced bars 14, located op osite the spaces between the spaced bars of t e upper frame. Swinging from'the lower frame 13 isa brace member 15, preferably in elongated U shape, with eyes 16 17 engaging one of the bars 14. i A flexible 0011-.
necting means, such as a' chain 18, is fastened to. the brace -member '15 and the free end 3 5 thereof coiledaround one of the end bars of the frame 13, so that the brace member may be held at anydesired point to support the device at any desired angle,.as shown in Fig. 2
i The device may be constructed in any re- 0 quired size or in any required proportions and of any suitable material, but for the purpose of illustrationisshownwholl of wire except the chain 18, but may be 0 wood or partly of wood and partly of metal, as pre- 5 ferred.
' Patented. March 20, 190.6.
The device will be found very useful and convenient in retail stores for supporting goods of various kinds in a neat, attractive, and readily-accessible position. The device may be emplo ed upon counters, within show-cases or s ow-windows, or in other 10- upper frame 10 coming above the spaces between the bars 14 of the lower frame 13, the goods suspended from the bars 11 will not interfere withthe goods suspendedfrom the bars 14, and vice versa, as will be obvious.
Having'thus described the invention, what is ClaiX161lST' 1.- isp a rack com risin an 11 er frame formed with spaced bars? stand zii ds depending from said upper-frame, a lower ,calities where required. The bars 11 of the I frame connected to said standards intermedia'tely thereof and extending beyond the upper frame at the endsand formed with spaced bars arranged opposite the spacesbetween the bars of the upper frame, and a brace pivoted to the lower frame for tilting both frames.
2.- A display-rack comprising an upper frame formed with spaced bars, standards depending from said upper frame, a lower.
frame connected to said standards intermediately thereof andformed with spaced bars arranged opposite the spaces between the bars of the upper frame, a bracemember swinging from said lower frame, and a flexible connecting means adjustably disposed between said lower frame and the free end of said brace member.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
