My invention relates particularly to the overlupping tab; and a further object of the inventicn is to provide means whereby thistab may be quickly and easily connected with-or detached from a collar button, and

' when attached to said button will be securely held in proper position.

The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the .ilCCOlIl". panying drawing forms a part, which the separate parts of my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in whicb- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a turn down collar made according to my invention, Fig. 2 ayiew similar to Fig. 1 but showing the tabs connected with a button, and Fig. 3 an inside view of the collar and showing the same extended.

In the drawing forming part of this specification, I have shown at a an ordinary turn down collar the end portions of which are provided with the usual tabs 7) and c. The tab 0 is the overlapping tab and is longer than the tab b, and the top and bottom edges thereof are preferably substantially parallel. but the top edge of the overl pping tab a may be cut out or made'concav' as shown at 0 in Fig. 3.

It will be observed that the axial line of I the recess 0 ranges transversely of'th'e tab 0 and the upper end of said recess terminates at the center of what would be the button hole if a button hole were formed in said tab, and this exact arrangement facilitates the operation of securing the tab 0 to the collar button and serves to hold said tab 0 in the position shown'in Fig. 2.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. In a collar, a band, an attached turnover top, the said band having overlapping flaps extending beyond the ends of said turn-over top and one of said flaps being provided with a button hole, and the other flap being provided with a vertical notch in its lower side, the top of said notch being a distance from the top of the band substantially equal to the distance between said but ton hole and the top of the band in which it is formed.
